19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since March of the previous year.
Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an better serving game.
He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.
He rescued four initial chances in a tight third set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
